Another convincing piece of evidence that Calon-Segur's reputation
for producing long-lived wine was hardly justified by this estate's performance
during much of the sixties and seventies. Fully mature in 1978, with an
attractive, charming, moderately intense bouquet of ripe Merlot fruit and spicy
oak, this garnet-colored, slightly brownish wine has soft, supple fruit, medium
body, and little tannin remaining. Anticipated maturity: Now-may be in decline.
Last tasted, 1/81.
